Lazy Maize, 22″ x 15″ original watercolor painting by Linda Abblett. Ears of yellow corn hang from on a line with an old harvest basket to dry in the sun in this quiet still life. Carefully crafted details of texture and shadow on the blue-grey wall in the background add visual drama to this autumn harvest themed piece. The same care has been painted into the details of each ear of corn / maize and the basket that hangs with them. A wonderful late summer / autumn theme to complement the colors of the season, with yellow, brown and blue-grey hues predominating.
